About the Blue Sharks
The Blue Sharks were formed as one of three patrols attending
Scoutmastership Fundamental training held by Longhorn District
of Capitol Area Council, Boy Scouts of America. The objective
of this training is to learn what Lord Baden-Powell referred to
in 1920 as "the art and science of bringing scouting to boys."
Classes were held at Tarrytown United Methodist Church on March
26, April 2, and April 4, with a campout on April 18-19 at Lost
Pines Scout Reservation in Bastrop, Texas. Staff members providing
our training were Sid Covington - Scoutmaster, Paul Kenny - Senior Patrol Leader, Tom Horn -
Quartermaster, Stewart Myrick - Troop Guide, and Roy Keithley - Troop Guide.
The Blue Sharks are proud to proclaim that we beat out the Geckos
and Jalapeño patrols for First Place in the patrol competition
which included several skill and spirit matches. Our patrol flag
sports the victory beads for this honor.
